About Sobey Wing:
In each of the Baybaylan Conferences a sacred fire has been tended throughout. This session asks: If we regard our relations as a sacred fire we build & tend with care what are some ways we can do so? Join Sobey Wing (Kathara Pilipinx Indigenous Society, Unceded Coast Salish Territories) & Orion Camero in a facilitated council to consider this question during this radical turning of the corner into the 2020’s decade. How will we tend this fire through this next phase of adaptation to the current dynamics of capitalism, colonialism and climate change exasperated by global pandemic?
In consideration of tending the flame we will build on a theme that has been explored particularly in the past two Babaylan Conferences: situating our Filipinx settler colonial complicit role on stolen lands working on accountability and redress. We will take a look at decolonizing our relations, protocols for anti-colonial panaghiusa (solidarity) both on Turtle Island and ang yutang natawhan (the motherland) . Our lens will be cross-cultural with decolonial love and transformative justice at its core. www.katharasociety.org
