Dennis Lozano

Pagsuyo Facilitator

I'm Dennis and was born in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. At 5 years old, I witnessed thousands of people take over the streets in what became People Power from our small apartment on Boni Avenue. It was festive and exciting, and it forever changed me. My family decided to leave the country after hearing reports about the possible bombing of Camp Crame, a military base just a mile from where we lived. Because we left so suddenly, I never got to say a proper goodbye, and a part of my spirit remains in the islands, frolicking in the waters of Matabungkay or making paper boats when floodwaters rose.

I am Ilongo from Panay and Guimaras on my mother’s side and Kapampangan from Tarlac on my father’s side. I am fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home papa. My partner is Melissa, and we have 3 kids: Mateo (14), Dante (11), and Ayla (3).

Deep in my midlife chrysalis, I am learning the dance between grief and joy. I’m so excited to grow with Kapwa as we embark on this Pagsuyo journey together.
