About the Webinar:

One of the questions we grapple with as settlers on stolen native lands is how we engage ritual cross-culturally, with protocol, with our Ancestors behind us and future generations before us.  The Center for Babaylan Studies offers a webinar led by Sobey Wing to explore the following themes:

  • The Loss of Indigenous Ritual Practices both in the Philippine homeland and in the diasporas
  • Pre-colonial Rituals of Transition
  • The Regeneration of indigenous Practices amongst:
    • Indigenous Peoples
    • Lowlanders
    • Diasporic communities
  • The relevance and possibilities of initiatory rites that form solidarity economics, relationships (kinship-based, nature, cosmos related), and legacies.
